Course Outline:

·    Training program delivered by power-point presentation & participants handouts – How to change a propane tank, IHSA Safety talk – Lift Trucks in warehousing, variable reach lift truck hand signals, Compressed gas safety & forklift operator procedures

·   Employer, Supplier, Supervisor & Worker responsibilities

·   Construction Regulations, 93-103, 151-156; Industrial Regulations 45-63; CSA Standard B335-15 & Forklift Equipment Manufacturer instructions

·   Forklift Types & selection Class 1 to 7

·   Forklift Inspections – Annual Maintenance, daily pre-use & Post start operational

·   Basic hazards – Stability, tipping over, operational hazards & work environment

·   Forklift Safe practices & procedures

·   Centre of Gravity, Load Centre, Loading capacity, boom angle loading charts, nameplates

·   Hand-on demonstration & operation of a Class 5 forklift – Pre use & operational Inspections, Manufacturer Instructions, Annual maintenance, conformance letter, operational controls & skills

·   Written exam – participants that achieve a minimum 80% score on the written test & demonstrate proficiency in 7 critical tasks for operating a forklift during the hands-on demonstration.  Successful participants will receive a course completion card as evidence of this training
