ASBESTOS AWARENESS IN CONSTRUCTION
AMSC Inc. offers an Asbestos Awareness in Construction course to assist employers in meeting their “due diligence” duties as it relates to providing instruction and education for the health and safety of workers. This course will benefit workers and supervisors by providing basic knowledge and principles related to Asbestos identification, work procedures, types of exposure & removal operations, recognition of hazards and controls.
All participants will receive laminated course completion cards as evidence of instruction and the employer will receive copies of these completion cards, along with a letter of accreditation and the attendance roster.
COURSE CONTENT:
• Introduction to Asbestos & types
• History of Asbestos use in Canada & Globally
• Recognition of asbestos types and associated risks
• Physiology of the body’s respiratory system
• Methods of limiting asbestos exposure
• Preventing asbestos disturbances
• Monitoring the atmosphere for asbestos
• Overview and application of the asbestos regulations 278/05
• Type 1,2 & 3 asbestos removal operations
• P. P. E. – Respirator fitting, use and maintenance
• Control Measures, Project Containment & Protection
• Decontamination methods after handling asbestos
